Bomb-Making Materials, Guns, Flamethrower Seized In Howell-Freehold Bust: Prosecutor

Alleged motorcycle gang member from Freehold, two Howell men were arrested; authorities said thousands of rounds of ammunition were seized.

A homemade flamethrower, bomb-making materials, 30 guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition were seized over the weekend after authorities were tipped off, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said Monday.

Three men, including an alleged member of an outlaw motorcycle gang, were arrested and face multiple weapons charges, said Charles Webster, spokesman for the prosecutor's office.

After getting a tip that explosives were present at a Howell home, authorities executed a search warrant at 191 Ford Road on Friday night, Webster said. During their search, they found 11 long guns, three handguns, ammunition and a quantity of marijuana, Webster said.
The investigation also led to a home at 204 State Highway 33 in Freehold Township as well as a known member of the Pagan’s Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, Webster said.

Another search warrant yielded a significant amount of explosive materials capable of creating destructive devices, Webster said. Police also recovered six long guns, 10 handguns, a homemade flame-thrower and thousands of rounds of ammunition that included hollow-nose and armor-piercing cartridges.

Those arrested were:
Anthony Corraro, 49, of Freehold, a member of the Pagan’s Outlaw Motorcycle Gang. He was charged with second-degree attempted possession of explosives for an unlawful purpose, second-degree attempted possession of destructive devices for an unlawful purpose, third-degree attempted possession of destructive devices, fourth-degree possession of armor-penetrating bullets and fourth-degree possession of firearm silencers. Corraro’s detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m. before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Leslie-Ann M. Justus.

David Tash, 53, and Christopher Tash, 49, both of 191 Ford Road, were charged with the second-degree certain persons not to possess firearms, fourth-degree possession of armor-penetrating bullets, and fourth-degree possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine. David Tash was also charged with the fourth-degree crime of possession of over 50 grams of marijuana.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detectives Wayne Raynor or Daniel Newman of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 800-533-7443.

In addition to the Prosecutor’s Office, Webster said, others that assisted in the investigation and searches include: Howell Township police, Freehold Township Police, the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team (MOCERT), New Jersey State Police K-9 Unit, Gang Unit Central and Arson/Bomb Unit, representatives of the Monmouth County Haz-Mat Team, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and a K-9 unit from the Bradley Beach Police Department.
