4 suspected gang members charged in murder attempt

Four suspects have been arrested by Manteca Police officers for their alleged involvement in the Valentine’s Day attempted murder of a couple at Southside Park that was stabbed multiple times.
The couple was transported to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries. The four suspects are awaiting their court appearances in Stockton and Manteca.

Casey Carrillo, 19, of Manteca, “KC,” was the last to be arrested in a Friday night traffic stop at about 11:30 when officers recognized him in a vehicle, taking him into custody.  Carrillo was wanted on three felony warrants, in addition to the stabbing charge, that were already outstanding. They included suspicion of murder, a petition for revocation of his parole, second degree burglary, receiving stolen property and participating in a criminal street gang.  All carried a “no bail” addition.

The four men are being accused of a knife attack on a couple in their late teens who were found bleeding on the ground in the park in the south central area of Manteca about four blocks south of Yosemite Avenue on Feb. 14. Carrillo’s court date is set for today, at the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Court. The other three arrested for assault, being members of a criminal street gang and attempted premeditated murder were Joseph Ronald Das, 20, of Manteca; Kevin Thrower, 21, of Manteca, released from custody; and Kevin Jessee “Oso,”Canas, 21, also of Manteca.
They are scheduled to appear at the Stockton Courthouse on April 6.
